Are YOU Procrastinating Writing Every Single Day?
And it has nothing to do with your writing skills. It is much more than that and the following 2-min read will break it down. If you like what you read, do pass it on.
Hey You💜,
You have been on LinkedIn for a while now and are still wondering what’s going wrong.
You have been trying to create a brand for yourself but are failing at making it work.
This could be for multiple reasons -
You are not fully-prepared with your purpose of being on a platform (let’s suppose it’s LinkedIn for now)
You are getting overwhelmed with all the content you consume every day, without making head or tail of it.
You are moving around like a headless chicken thinking - I don’t have it in me.
These are not reasons tbh, these are excuses you are giving yourself for not showing up. (take it or leave it)
And it all boils down by not building a simple habit - Writing. ☹️
(If she👆can do it, why can’t you 😏)
In a string of recent calls with new writers and aspiring writers, the #1 missing factor was their ability to write. (are you one of them?)🫵
They like to write, but have never written for themselves (how ironic is that)🤔
They want to express their views on different topics, but they don’t want to make the effort to do that. (how can you do that?)🤔
We make a mountain of a molehill when it comes to writing, but it is not as difficult as you think.
Start by writing 300 words every day. (doable right?)
Put in your phone notes, self-created WhatsApp group, Google Doc or maybe a journal. (nothing fancy. a simple book will work)
Choose from topics that vibe with you. (life, philosophy, mental health, kids, career, anything)
Put in your raw and unfiltered thoughts without feeling overwhelmed.
Do this with a timer of 30 - 40 mins everyday for 21 days straight.
Once you build your momentum, treat every piece you write as a piece for a client. (If you wish picture me as your client)
One BIG reason you don’t have the motivation to write for yourself is because there is no Price Tag attached to your writing.
⭐ No Price = No Motivation ⭐
Am I right?
When you visualize someone you are writing for, it becomes easier to move away from the block.
Your procrastination will slowly start fading away.
This will have a compounding effect on your personality, your writing, and your overall growth.
You will begin to understand what you like writing, better.
You will become better in articulating your thoughts.
You will start putting yourself on a platform better.
You will structure and format your writing well.
You will become consistent in your efforts.
Writing and Building on a Platform is a process.
It is not a one day inspiration thing.
If you can’t do it for yourself, believe me you won’t have the motivation or ideas to do it for your clients. Period.
Would love to know what you think🙏🤗
Until later…
Wishing You A Very Happy Women’s Day ❤️🤗
Cheers,
Yours truly❤️
The last line hit me. If you don't have motivation to write for yourself, you will not have a motivation to write for clients. How apt.
