Don't buy a brand. Be a Brand!
This edition will give you a few nuggets of building your brand the right way and some new updates on LinkedIn. Take a moment out; promise it's not more than 3 minutes.
Hey💜,
Oooo🤗 I wanna take this moment to thank you for being here. Your support has prompted me to start this newsletter and I hope YOU get the best out of it.
Yay! We are in the 1st week of Feb (my 2nd favourite month🥰). As cliched as it sounds, I love the feeling of love in this month. So how about making it a little more special for the one you really love, adore, and are super special to you❤️.
Okay enough of the lovey-doveyness 😍. I’ll dive straight to the theme of this one.
Personal Branding!
You constantly hear terms like - profile optimization, about section, talks about, services provided, keywords, yada yada yada 😶🌫️
But what drives all this?
.YOU.
Today we will talk about your Profile Keywords ONLY.
Create a list of keywords matching your profile and the work you do. Whether as a freelancer or a fulltime employee, note down the designations, titles, and industry specific words that describe your job.
Use them prudently in your Headline section (like I did).
These specific words will help your audience or the ones looking for you find you easily. DON’T overcomplicate it. Keep it simple and to the point.
As a newcomer, you may wonder ‘Oh I don’t know what to write as my headline’. Well hon, you must use the keywords from the industry that YOU want to be part of.
If you are an aspiring copywriter use - copywriting, aspiring copywriter, copywriter, social media writer, copywriter with love for jingles, ads, and punchlines, etc.
It is a brilliant way to tell your prospective clients or a potential employer what they can expect from you. (be creative especially if you are from the creative field)🔥HOT UPDATE!!! “Talks about” section which is below your profile headline will be removed from LinkedIn effective FEB 2024. You will no longer have this feature. The pull out has already started so don’t fret about this section.🔥
Don’t forget to use the keywords or the words describing the work you do in your “About Section” (this is a snippet of mine👇)
People often think it isn’t important, but it is.
LinkedIn algo crawls your profile end to end to figure out whether your profile is worth showing to other people. Your About section must highlight WHAT, WHY, and HOW clearly.
With the latest update from LinkedIn, your “About section” will be moved to the top of the profile effective March 2024 so everyone will know what you do immediately. (Seedhi baat, no bakwaas😉)
Uber important for you to update it right away. 🔥🔥Use the ‘Top Skills’ across your experience section to highlight the skills that you have used in that particular job. Again Keywords play a big role here. (It looks like this 👇)
Use the ones relevant to your profile and your deliverables. It will help you attract immediate attention from prospects. (not marriage ones okay! 😏)
But it doesn’t end here!
There is a whole lot that goes into building your profile and I hope this particular edition helps you get started or helps you revamp your profile to make it the BEST😍😍 (‘Cuz YOU ARE THE BEST🥳)
I will touch base on the other parts of the profile in my next edition. But until then, stay blessed, keep your spirits high, and make the most of every moment you have. 👋
See you later🤗
Cheers,
Yours truly❤️
(PS: March 2024, you will no longer see the ‘Creator Mode’ toggle button. It will be made available by default to everyone on LinkedIn.)
